Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory

Linkin Park a band now known all across the world today had a great kickoff, atleast in my opinion they did. There debut album Hybrid Theory released October 24th back in 2000. The album today marks vast commercial success and has gone to sell 10 million units. The album peaked at number two on the billboard 200 hundred when it was first released. Hybrid Theory is the best selling debut album of the 21st century having sold 24 million copies worldwide today.

To get into the specifics of why this album is so great I will present a track by track review with a brief synopsis to conclude.

Track 1: Papercut

Good vibe to start with, a mix of mix table beats with a rough guitar sound to complement. The lyrics are easliy relateble to anyone that has ever lived so they get huge points for that. The chorus is a good hook and the repetative “I”s pull the audience in.

Track 2: One step closer

A more guitar based track this song is great to work out to, I find more specifically, it is a great song to run to. The tempo of the track picks up so well around the chorus this track just gives you the urge to jump around and move.

Track 3: With you

Mix table kick off this song is very enigmatic to start, but with a hint of a melancholic under tone. The lyrics convey the mourning of love lost and the with drawl one goes through, flashbacks, echos, and silence.

Track 4: Points of Authority

From the very get go this track screams energy, it gives a vibrant energy that pushes the audience to move, another great track to run to. The lyrics discuss the vanity of another person who believes they are never wrong and reflects his misfortunes on others.

Track 5: Crawling

Out of the whole album this probably my least favorite track, it is thoroughly sad and lacks any vibrant energy which the other tracks display, however it does stand out for this reason, though that might not be a good thing.

Stay tuned for part II!

I’m milking this sucker! Ha!

One Response to Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory

  1. Ah, this makes me remember my Linkin Park days. I still think they’re a good band, although if you ask me their latest albums haven’t been as good. I like their early work much better.
