The Apocalypse

Zombie

Keep running! They’re gaining on us!” screamed Joey. They were quickly gaining on us and we were not speeding up. Those things have already taken Julio a few minutes before but we had no time to mourn for him.

I kept running but for a second glanced back and saw Samantha behind me running and screaming in terror. I slowed down a bit so I can hold her hand so that I can give her the boost. I noticed Joey reaching for a building and opened the door.

“Quick! Get in!” He said. We did not need to be told twice and ran into the building. Once we got in Joey closed the door and sealed it with a metal rod that was nearby. the whole place was silent and the only noise that was heard was from the gnawing hunger and growling of the pale skinned, rotting people outside. A half an hour later they stopped and moved on. The place went quiet.

Joey and I were catching our breath while Samantha was breaking out into tears. Julio was her boyfriend and they have… were… together for 3 years. In a matter of seconds he was pulled into the crowd of those things and torn and eaten.

“Oh God, that was close” I told them. I went to comfort Samantha but all she was able to do was cry her eyes out. Joey walked forward and scanned the hallway. The place was a mess; papers lying on the floor, windows broken but there was no blood around so we assumed that there were no walkers in the building. Joey grabbed a pipe and a wooden bat that was lying around.

He tossed me the bat and said, “Here, I think that Samantha is too much in pain to defend herself, we gotta protect her. We should sleep her for the night and find another place in the morning”

Samantha and I agreed and we tried to go to sleep. At the break of dawn we heard a grumble and growl outside. But it was a familiar voice…

“Hey, that sounds like-”

“Julio…” Samantha interrupted me. “He must have survived those things and came back for me” She got up to open the door.

“No!” Joey whispered angrily and pulled her to the floor.

“Let me go!” She screamed. “He is hurt and needs us!” I tried to grab her but punched me in between my legs and kicked Joey in the face. We let go and ran to the door.

“Please, no…” I told her but she didn’t listen. She released the metal rod form the door and flung it open. She ran to the limbless, broken, disemboweled Julio. She held him tight but we turned away because we knew what was going to happen next. She screamed to the top of her lungs in pain at the same time we were hearing meat being shredded.

The growling began to come from all directions. Her screams attracted more of those things. We got back up and ran deeper into the building. The screaming got louder and louder. One caught up with Joey and grabbed his leg. He tripped and the thing chewed his leg. Joey screamed and stabbed the walker’s head with the metal pipe.

He was limping towards me and said, “Look, I’ll hold them off as much as I can. I won’t be seeing you soon because i know what happens if you get bitten by one of those things.” I was shedding a tear but I knew that he was right. I ran to a staircase and ran downwards. A few minutes later the growling sounds got louder. Joey didn’t hold them off that much.

When I hit the last floor I tried to open the door but the door was jammed. I was kicking the door but the I saw a walker coming down the stairs. I kicked the door real hard, sprained my ankle but opened the door. What I saw horrified me. On the other side of the door hid a lot more of those things looking right at me. I lost all hope. I fell on my knees waiting for my imminent death. I closed my eyes shut and ignored the pain of my limbs being torn. The darkness overwhelmed me and I was gone.
