Metro Gold Line
February 2nd, 2010 by jessy56

Due to budget cuts, Mr. Gertner’s class was force to use the new Metro Gold line for their field trip to see “Palestine, New Mexico.”

It seems like a wacky idea at first, but at the end it became a great learning opportunity for the students of his class to learn about the transportation option in their neighborhood.

The Metro Gold line has been one of the most exiting project in the east side of town in recent years. Ever since it opened in November, it has given the opportunity for commuters to travel around Los Angeles in a different and faster way.

When entering the new Metro Gold line station, in Soto and 1st,  I noticed how nice and new everything looked. It look like it was still the grand opening.
You would think that a place like this would be fill with life but as it turns our it empty and lifeless, except for the officer who were their for security purpose.

Waiting on the Gold line didn’t take much time, in less than five minutes the train was here and ready to take us of to our destination.

Once aboard the train cart you can see and feel how nice and comfortable everything was. Riding the Metro to Union Station was a pleasant ride, looking out the window of the train you could see all the new improvements the Metro Gold line has brought to this once forgotten community.

Overall the Metro Gold line has brought new ways of commuting to other parts of Los Angels, and gives the opportunity for students like Mr. Gertner’s class to explore new stuff around their city.

It was a totally different way of going on a field trip but hey a new adventure doesn’t hurt anybody =]
The metro was awesome!! It was funny seen how some people are really scared of riding it. During the whole train ride they seemed all paranoid. It was really funny!!
anyways I really enjoyed going on this trip. The transportation was a totally different way and the play was also totally different from what we usually go see.
    I liked it!!!!

I know it sounds funny, but the reality is that we took Metro by choice. My choice. I could have ordered a two school buses for $350 each, but it seemed like a waste when we could get Metro for free through their rail safety program. The added bonus was that a bunch of students had the chance to ride the new Gold Line Eastside extension. Hopefully you will use the train more now. It’s a great way to get around LA, especially for young people who don’t have a license or a car, but also for adults who want to be more environmentally friendly or don’t want the hassle of traffic and parking. Plus you get all kinds of fun, random experiences on public transit!
