Celebration to the opening of the East Side Metro Gold Line on First Street and Soto on Sunday, November 15, 2009. There was excitment amongst the neighborhood friends in Boyle Heights and also for those who would like to get familiar to the East Side.
There was much to celebrate as a new easy, fast and eco friendly transportation was finally finished and ready to try out. Many folks, including myself could not wait for this day, as we were all looking forward to get on the Metro for free (an offer like that doesn’t come very often).
Many citizens of Los Angeles complain about there being an exaggeration amount of traffic in Los Angeles’ freeways and streets. But what can you expect with a resident population in Los Angeles County of 9,862.049. There will obviously be alot of choas and flipping of the middle finger on trafficated freeways.
So here’s a a new way to reduce at least a small percentage of that….startby taking public transportation like the bus or metro. Statistics show that individuals who ride public transportation saved an additional $225 due to the 41 cent increase in gasoline. So there’s a plus to that matter, less pollution and less traffic.
As someone who drives, I think it’s too much traffic. Lights take longer to turn, so while people on the metro get to their location faster, I DON’T!
I drive and I welcome the train. Even those of us with other options should try to use public transit as much as possible, but the train was really made for those who depend on transit, and they deserve the best!
I am going to ride the train.
maybe ill ride the train one day when i got nothing to do with the homies.
