If you pay close attention and you know bout the World War II like i do, it reminded me of how the Germans had its prisoners in outside camps, it makes me wounder why do they plan to use this outside prison for the immigrants that their only crime was to cross the boarder for a better life.

It’s just very sad to see what has happened to the “United” States of America.

They see many gruesome things that scars them and follows them until adulthood. In this book you realize about all the horrible suffering women go through in their daily lives. Over there it is so normal for women to be treated in such inhuman manners by their husbands and other men.

I really recommend this book because it opens your eyes to so may things that i never thought possible. It makes you really appreciate life as we know it and everything in this country that protects women’s rights.

Fascist Nazi forces from the misnamed “National Socialist Movement” are coming to LA. These racists have been organizing rallies in Southern California to attack and harass immigrants. But each time, they have been driven away by huge counter-???protests.???

Nazi racism targets not only Latino immigrants, but also the Black community, Asians, Arabs, Native peoples, Jews, LGBT people, leftists and anyone who opposes their hate. Now, the Nazis are attempting to rally in downtown LA at City Hall. We must be there with thousands to say NO to racism!

The ANSWER Coalition is calling on all anti-racist people to stand united against the Nazis and drive them out of Los Angeles. Help us build this action. Together, we can stop racist hate! Down with Nazis/KKK!

Congress continues to place the immigration reform bill on the back burner. The last immigration reform bill was passed in 1986 under President Ronald Reagan’s administration.

It’s not right that we don’t focus on the immigration reform bill on the basis that it’s not “practical”. If I may recall, attempting to pass a health care bill wasn’t practical either, however, Congress has made it evident that they have priorities.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who met with Congress, asked for money to invest in public transportation. As opposed to demand an immigration reform bill for the people of his community, he doesn’t. It’s time that America stops playing politics and starts focusing on what’s right, as opposed to what’s popular.

With the above stated, we, as the youth must show our support. And ultimately, pressure Congress to pass a fair immigration reform bill in 2010. This Saturday, people will be marching to show support. It’s important that people attend! Tell your friends and families to go. SHOW SUPPORT!

Though not the first time I have studied Civil Rights in Mr. Gibbs’ class, we are currently studying that unit once again. The first time I really learned about the different leaders of the movement and their different approaches to gaining civil rights, I was surprised how opposed they were.

Before high school, I didn’t know much about the civil rights movement, but I always pictured figures like Dr. King and Malcom X all working together. I envisioned all African-American activist leaders as the best of friends who were united in inspiring the people.

Now that I have learned how much people like Dr. King, Malcom X, and Thurgood Marshall clashed, it’s funny to think how I once thought they were the best of friends. All these activists wanted the same thing, to have equality and respect among all people, especially African-Americans who faced harsh acts of racism and discrimination.

However, they had different philosophies on how to approach the issue, and so they lead people and helped to cause in different ways. Sometimes I wonder how much more could have been done if all these activists would have worked closely together. Perhaps much more could have been accomplished faster if they had put their differences aside and joined forces for the whole movement.

Still these leaders had good intentions and all they wanted was for their people to get the civil rights they deserve. This can serve as an example to all of us about tolerance. Sometimes we need to put our differences aside and work together for something that is bigger than us. During class discussions I completely disagree with the philosophies of some of my classmates. But in the future when we all become crazy revolutionaries, I hope we will work together even though our ideas may clash.

Originally known as International Women’s Day, but in 1979, the school district of Sonoma, California, participated in Women’s History Week, an event designed around the week of March 8 (International Women’s Day).

The next year, leaders from the California group shared their project at the Women’s History Institute at Sarah Lawrence College. Soon after schools across the country began to have their own local celebrations.

Within a few years, thousands of schools and communities got on the bandwagon of National Women’s History Week. Then In 1987 Congress expanded the focus to a whole month.

In 2001, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Rep. Barbara Mikulski (D-Maryland) co-sponsored the first Joint Congressional Resolution proclaiming a “Women’s History Month”. Soon, other state departments of education began to encourage celebrations of National Women’s History Week as a way to promote equality among the sexes in the classroom.

Bomb It is a documentary of Graffiti from its origins in Philadelphia and New York to its evolution all around the world. In this documentary it talks about how the art of Graffiti is misunderstood and is exaggerated into this “great” crime that becomes the explanation of the metaphor the broken window.

Throughout the documentary many graffiti artists around the world are interviewed and asked why they practice the art of graffiti, how society and the government deal with the art, and what they think of them.

I feel that this documentary really shares the point of view of many graffiti artists and the reasons why they love to do graffiti.
