either one

A thousand Splendid suns is about the people that live and survive their lives in third world countries during war time. They see many gruesome things that scars them and follows them until adulthood. In this book you realize about all the horrible suffering women go through in their daily lives. Over there it is so normal for women to be treated in such inhuman manners by their husbands and other men.

I really recommend this book because it opens your eyes to so may things that i never thought possible. It makes you really appreciate life as we know it and everything in this country that protects women’s rights.

SPM

Carlos Coy was born 1971, better known by his stage name South Park Mexican or SPM, is an American rapper, and company founder of Dope House Records. His stage name is derived from the South Park neighborhood in Houston, Texas where he was raised. Coy debuted as South Park Mexican in 1998 with the album “Power Moves” under the label. His next album, The 3rd Wish, generated two charting singles, “You Know My Name” and “High So High”. In 2002, SPM was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and sentenced to 45 years incarceration. SPM is currently serving his sentence at Powledge Unit near Palestine, Texas but even incarcerated, he continues to record music.

SPM began as a Christian rapper but felt that doing so made him an outcast. In 1995, SPM along with his brother Arthur Jr. and good friend Jose Antonio Garza from McAllen, Texas founded his own record label, Dope House Records. As SPM  released one album in 1998, Power Moves, through his label with distribution in Houston under Southwest Wholesale. Live album Hillwood and studio album The 3rd Wish followed in 1999. 3rd Wish was a regional hit, with single “High So High” gaining much local buzz and even charting at #50 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. In 2000, SPM signed a joint venture between his label and Universal Music Group which earned him a $500,000 advance and national distribution. Universal released three of SPM’s albums: Time is Money and The Purity Album in 2000 and Never Change in 2001. The Purity Album included single “You Know My Name”, which peaked at #99 on the Billboard R&B chart and #31 on the rap chart. SPM’s Universal releases did not gain much mainstream attention; Jason Birchmeier of allmusic suggested: “SPM’s hardcore rapping proved to be too harsh for the masses”. SPM’s 2002 album Reveille Park, a compilation of freestyles, was released by Dope House. Dope House released two new albums by SPM that he recorded while incarcerated. When Devils Strike, released in 2006, debuted at #46 on the Billboard 200. The Last Chair Violinist followed in 2008.

Fascist Nazi forces from the misnamed “National Socialist Movement” are coming to LA. These racists have been organizing rallies in Southern California to attack and harass immigrants. But each time, they have been driven away by huge counter-???protests.???

Nazi racism targets not only Latino immigrants, but also the Black community, Asians, Arabs, Native peoples, Jews, LGBT people, leftists and anyone who opposes their hate. Now, the Nazis are attempting to rally in downtown LA at City Hall. We must be there with thousands to say NO to racism!

The ANSWER Coalition is calling on all anti-racist people to stand united against the Nazis and drive them out of Los Angeles. Help us build this action. Together, we can stop racist hate! Down with Nazis/KKK!

Gears Montage
Apr 11th, 2010 by Flyboy

I have a rough time making a Gears of War montage. Its pretty much a bunch of clips of you killing opponents. There’s different types of montages, there’s the shotty, boltok, head shot, pretty much there’s a montage for any weapon. Its up to the player what type of weapon they think they are better with. I have made up this new type of head shot. I named it the X-ray head shot unfortunately I don’t have the video ready but I will post when I finish it.

Head shot montage are usually the type that people want to see because head shot are the ones people get excited with the most. People nowadays are trying to come out with new head shots there’s Spider man, Superman, Ice man and other ___man.

Sometimes the head shots might be bots(computers) playing so keep an eye out for some of those.

Here check out this montage

Are you ready for the Hunger Games?
Apr 11th, 2010 by jackim13

People must be getting tired of my constant reviewing of books, but at this point, reading is all I’ve done and my recent involvement in Roosevelt’s book club has done nothing but egg me on. Yes, I’ve claimed to read several amazing books, but I would take back every single claim to say that The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is the most amazing, intriguing, attention-grabbing book I have ever read.

North America has become Panem, a TV-dominated dictatorship run from a city called the Capitol. The rest of Panem has been seperated into 13 Districts, the 13th being obliterated after trying to rebel against the Capitol. Each year, a boy and a girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are picked as tributes for the Hunger Games, in which they all fight to the death to win fame and fortune, and some sort of prize for their district.

Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen becomes one of those tributes and finds herself in a dilemna like no other. She’s pitted against the friends she makes and the enemies who were undoubtedly raised to kill.

The story itself is a suspense like no other and the idea that it is now being made into a movie only seems to drive fans – myself included – crazy.

Abusive relationships in the lives of women and teens
Apr 9th, 2010 by evelyn44

As we grow up, new relationships occur on a daily basis.  Many people assume that  all relationships are nice and “out of love or lust.”  But how many people have actually sat down and thought about abusive relationships that some couples have?  In fact, I can probably guess that not many people want to hear about them, or even actually realize that they may be in an abusive relationship.

I read a book called “Dreamland” by Sarah Dessen and I absolutely loved it. This book is about a young girl named Caitlin who suffers from the abandonment of her sister and looks for comfort to Rogerson.  Since the beginning of their relationship  it wasn’t as great but just being with him, made her clear her mind of all current problems .  As days pass her boy friend Rogerson starts to be controlling and hits her out of anger. She doesn’t know how to deal with it, and even starts to blame things on herself.  She puts up with him because she “loves him.”

“he screamed, and then pushed me away from him, hard, so that I fell back against the door again and this time it swung open fully, making a loud, scraping noise against the sidewalk .”Rogerson” I said as I-struggled to my feet, “please- ” “get up!” he yelled and grabbed me by the arm yanking me toward him.”(215)

Towards the end of the book, Caitlin does receive help because her boyfriend sends her to the hospital, but not only does this happen I books but in real life, more than you can imagine it’s just  hard to tell.

Some clues that can help you notice abusive relationships can be:

  • Is jealous or possessive toward you.
  • Tries to control you by being very bossy or demanding.
  • Tries to isolate you by demanding you cut off social contacts and friendships.
  • Is violent and / or loses his or her temper quickly.
  • Blames you when he or she mistreats you.

The list goes on check here if you’re interested.

If a person you know or yourself can relate to this leave before it’s too late.
