A thousand Splendid suns is about the people that live and survive their lives in third world countries during war time. They see many gruesome things that scars them and follows them until adulthood. In this book you realize about all the horrible suffering women go through in their daily lives. Over there it is so normal for women to be treated in such inhuman manners by their husbands and other men.
I really recommend this book because it opens your eyes to so may things that i never thought possible. It makes you really appreciate life as we know it and everything in this country that protects women’s rights.
Have you met or are you the kind of person who isn’t grateful for what they have and only sees what you don’t have? Well if you are you should really read this book it might get you into perspective.
This book is about an eleven year old boy named Sam Mc Queen who loves to collect stories and fantastic facts and suffers from leukemia. He is determined to one day become a famous scientist and break the world records side by side with his best friend Felix Stranger who also suffers from cancer. When I finished reading this book I was so moved. Everything that these two boys had to go through. And even how they first met was touching.
I really recommend this book to everyone!
i went to the library and couldn’t find the book that i wanted so i looked for a new one and i found Blessing’s Bead. It looks so interesting, especially after i read the summary of it.
Basically its about Nutaaq and her older sister, Aaluk and their journey. They are sailing from small island of the coast of Alaska to the annual trade fair on the mainland. I think it mostly intrigues me because of their unique names.
When i finish reading it i will let you know if i recommend it to you or not.
Have you Ever thought about how your life would be like if you were in the ” A-list” ( Meaning Rich and Famous) ?
i started reading this book called “The A list” by Zoey Dean About how this Girl named Anna Percy Moves from New york to Los Angeles to move with her dad, because she believes that she needs to start a new life and meet her father.
On the plane to Los Angeles she met Ben. Ben and Anna hook up. He invites her to one of his good friends father’s wedding (Jackson Sharpes).
What Anna doesn’t know is that she’s about to meet “The Mean Girls”. Sam Sharpe, Cammie and Dee, the ones that made her night impossible and ruin her dress, and to top it off embarrassed her in front of the coward.
Anna tries to play it off and stay cool, whatever they said or do was avoid. Cammie had a thing with Ben before Anna so Cammie’s plan is to make Anna’s life impossible as long as she’s seeing Ben.
One night Ben and Anna escape the night and go to one of Ben’s father’s yachts and just hang out there, and before you know it Anna falls asleep and Ben is gone. He left her alone on a beach she barely even knows.
She doesn’t talk to Ben after he tries to contact her. Sam invites Anna to a community service for her school. Anna relaizes that Sam isn’t such a bad person just when you push her limits of course.
Next thing you know Anna attends Beverly Hills High, along with Sam, Cammie, and Dee. Anna’s first day at Beverly High was awful, but who shows up? Ben. He explains to Anna what had happened and why he left without telling her. Anna listens and she carefully tells him that she doesn’t care and she doesn’t want to see him anymore.
When I starting reading this book I didn’t think it would be that interesting because the title sounds kind of boring but once I read the back I realized that this book really got my attention.
The Lost Mind is a story about a young woman who wakes up in the woods with blood all over her and right besides her lies a dead body. She wakes up with a knife on her right hand. She doesn’t know what’s going on and she can’t remember anything or why she’s even there. She doesn’t know who the girl is and she doesn’t understand why she is covered in blood.
I have never been a vampire book fan until I was pressured to read Vampire Kisses which is a series of a total of six books now, with the seventh book coming out in May. My best friend is a vampire freak and I would always bug her about it but i guess it was just because I never gave those kind of books a chance. I really encourage you to start reading the series. They are not what I had expected, so give them a chance.
The books are mostly about how a high school goth girl named Raven falls in love with the only goth guy named Alexander. But she think he is a very mysterious guy with a huge secret that no one knows. Start reading the books to find out all of Raven and Alexander’s adventures.
Royal Blood is the sixth book from the series of Vampire Kisses.
I have been reading the Vampire Kisses serie,s which are very interesting books. When I starting reading the first book, I thought to myself, “Wow this book got me reading!”
Once I would finish one book I wanted to keep reading the until I was done with the series. I haven’t finished the series yet, but I will soon. The books are so full of drama and supense. Something new always happens to Raven and her boyfriend, Alexander.
In the fifth book Raven and Alexander were leaving town to go home. But something ends up happening to them…… If you want to know more about the series go on to this website.
People must be getting tired of my constant reviewing of books, but at this point, reading is all I’ve done and my recent involvement in Roosevelt’s book club has done nothing but egg me on. Yes, I’ve claimed to read several amazing books, but I would take back every single claim to say that The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is the most amazing, intriguing, attention-grabbing book I have ever read.
North America has become Panem, a TV-dominated dictatorship run from a city called the Capitol. The rest of Panem has been seperated into 13 Districts, the 13th being obliterated after trying to rebel against the Capitol. Each year, a boy and a girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are picked as tributes for the Hunger Games, in which they all fight to the death to win fame and fortune, and some sort of prize for their district.
Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen becomes one of those tributes and finds herself in a dilemna like no other. She’s pitted against the friends she makes and the enemies who were undoubtedly raised to kill.
The story itself is a suspense like no other and the idea that it is now being made into a movie only seems to drive fans – myself included – crazy.
As we grow up, new relationships occur on a daily basis. Many people assume that all relationships are nice and “out of love or lust.” But how many people have actually sat down and thought about abusive relationships that some couples have? In fact, I can probably guess that not many people want to hear about them, or even actually realize that they may be in an abusive relationship.
I read a book called “Dreamland” by Sarah Dessen and I absolutely loved it. This book is about a young girl named Caitlin who suffers from the abandonment of her sister and looks for comfort to Rogerson. Since the beginning of their relationship it wasn’t as great but just being with him, made her clear her mind of all current problems . As days pass her boy friend Rogerson starts to be controlling and hits her out of anger. She doesn’t know how to deal with it, and even starts to blame things on herself. She puts up with him because she “loves him.”
“he screamed, and then pushed me away from him, hard, so that I fell back against the door again and this time it swung open fully, making a loud, scraping noise against the sidewalk .”Rogerson” I said as I-struggled to my feet, “please- ” “get up!” he yelled and grabbed me by the arm yanking me toward him.”(215)
Towards the end of the book, Caitlin does receive help because her boyfriend sends her to the hospital, but not only does this happen I books but in real life, more than you can imagine it’s just hard to tell.
Some clues that can help you notice abusive relationships can be:
Is jealous or possessive toward you. Tries to control you by being very bossy or demanding. Tries to isolate you by demanding you cut off social contacts and friendships. Is violent and / or loses his or her temper quickly. Blames you when he or she mistreats you.
The list goes on check here if you’re interested.

Look for help!
I’ve never read any books by Nicholas Sparks other than The Notebook, and the movie wasn’t half bad. I watched the movie A Walk to Remember as well, but never got the chance to read the book.
I loved both movies, and they really got me into reading more books by Nicholas Sparks, so when I saw that the movie based on The Last Song, I couldn’t help going out to buy the book right away.
Now the book tells the story of Veronica “Ronnie” Miller, whose parents got divorced, turning her life completely upside down. Three years later, she’s managed to completely alienate herself from her parents, especially her father, and her mother decides it would be best to send Ronnie and her younger brother, Jonah, to stay with her father over the summer. Ronnie becomes furious and refuses to accept any attempts her father tries to reach out to her.
She never expects on finding something as confusing and painful as first love.
Now, I’m no sappy romantic, but the story told in this book is bound to hook any reader, let’s just hope the movie lives up to it, like The Notebook did.
