Ochoa
Apr 1st, 2009 by Dr. House

In my opinion Guillermo Ochoa is the best goalkeeper in the world, one reason is because he plays for the best team in the world Club America and the other reason is becuase through out then year he has shown all the people in tyhe world that he is good at what he does.

Francisco Guillermo Ochoa Magana was born in Guadalajar, Mexico in July 13 1985 . He is currently 23 and plays for Club America. He debuted in 2004 at the age of 18 playing against CF Monterrey during this game he demostrated how skilled and talented he was. He won with Club America the Clausura 2005 and in 2006 was called up to Mexico’s National team. Every year he blooms and gives excitment to America’s fans and will bring Mexico to their first World Cup. He has been in Oswaldo Sanchez’s shadow in the National team but not anymore as he was the starter goalkeeper against a tough team of Costa Rica.  MExico is going to play Honduras and they are going to win because Ochoa is going to be MExico’s goalkeeper. New bleachers possibly first stage in field renovation
Mar 1st, 2009 by goofy

It seems that everyone wants to know what is going on with the school bleachers. There have been many rumors about things. They say that there is going to be turf on the field and that they’re going to expand the field too. Also people say that they’re going to remove the small field and turn it into parking.

Everyone here at Roosevelt walks around every day and notices what’s new they all noticed the peace jam mural, the mural in front of the gym, whatever they paint, and now what has seemed to catch everyone’s attention would be the fact that they removed the bleaches during soccer season. Many seem to wonder what is going on and what will be occurring.

What’s really occurring and what seemed as if there would be more is the fact that we are getting new bleachers to be put up. For the moment that seems to be all. Mr. Flores, our athletic director, said, “They aren’t going to fix the field yet or anything else.”

He also said “for the moment we will only be having new bleachers we do have in mind on fixing the field and track but they are going to fix things little by little.

Therefore for the moment the bleachers will be it. Read the rest of this entry »

Interliga 2009
Jan 11th, 2009 by Dr. House

All four teams have a chance to qualify for the last two remaining semi final spots in the 2009 Interliga championship.

America, returning as last years champions, are here to defend their title. Atlas is playing Las Aguilas del America. Atlas comes in with only 1 point out of the possible 6, after tying with Tigres 0-0, and losing to Chivas 3-1 in el Classico Tapatio. America comes in with 4 points out of 6 possible, after tying with Chivas 1-1 in the Classico Mexicano, and winning La Puentes team Tigres a staggering 3-1.

Tigres is playing Las Chivas del Guadalajara. Tigres coming in with 1 point out of the possible 6, after tying with Atlas 0-0, and loosing to Club America 3-1. Chivas comes in with 4 points out of the possible 6, tying their first game with their arch rival Club America 1-1, and winning their 2nd classico against Atlas 3-1.

All America and Chivas have to do is tie or win, and they are both in. In the other hand Atlas and Tigres have to win goaliando a las Chivas and al America 3-0 that is the only way they could get their ticket into the semifinals. Who ever makes it to the semifinals will have to face Pachuca or Morelia on Sunday, either as team 1 or team 2.  The Final matches for the Interliga 2009 will be on this Sunday.!!!

Soccer
Aug 19th, 2008 by goofy

Soccer is the world sport, everyone should know this. You’re probably asking yourself, why it is the world sport? Soccer is the world sport because it’s all over the world and even where there is supposedly no sport there is, and it’s soccer.

Soccer was invented in Japan in 611 B.C. It has over 200 years existing. It was called football for everyone in Europe, Central America, South America, and Africa. But when they invented American football they changedthe name to soccer in North America.

Soccer has been the most important sport around the whole world and it means so much too many around the world. Soccer has been considered the first official sport in the world. Therefore soccer is the most meaningful sport!

Soccer is one of the sports in which they have so much contact and is played using and competing against many languages. This sport connects everyone even though they don’t look the same or can understand each other.

Here at Roosevelt the girl’s soccer team were champions for so many years. But they have like 7 yrs. not even making it to the playoffs. They have had bad records. The last good record was in 2006-2007 because they at least won and tied half the season. But this past season they did so badly, it left us all shocked. Why? Well because they only had one win and the rest.

It’s been said that they aren’t really concerned for them winning, but concerned for them having a good coach that is willing to keep the job and willing to take time and dedication. Someone that would motivate the girls enough that would cause them to take this seriously. And they need the support!

In Need of a Soccer Coach
Aug 4th, 2008 by goofy

With the new school year upon us, the girl’s soccer team is desperately seeking a new coach. It’s been known that the girl’s soccer team doesn’t have a coach. They are in desperate need of a coach.

It’s been said that they need a coach that is willing to take the time and have dedication for them. They need a coach now because the sooner they can get to practicing and getting ready for their season; besides lots of time has been wasted. They were supposed to start practicing on April.

Their season is not so far from now, it’s in November, 4 months from now, and they said that’s not enough time, but it could be. They need to find a coach as soon as possible that will take the job and that will be there for them and have the dedication and time. Now let here from others’ point of view:

Elizabeth Resendiz 12B, Member of the girls’ soccer team:

“I believe we need a real good coach that is willing to take the job and is going to be responsible and have the time for us.

I’ve heard from many girls that want to join and tryout, but! The only problem is that we do not have a coach! We need one now!”

Bert Lira, football coach/parent:

“I believe in desperate need of a “GOOD COACH!” because they have not been doing well during their season with a record of 1 of 13 games! Not only is demoralizing to lose so much, but also to lack of pride in their team.”

Mike Flores, athletics coordinator:

“I think it’s important that they get a coach as soon as possible. We should put up flyers advertising the openings we have for the soccer girls. We have 3 people that are interested in the position, and will start interviewing them next week for the job. We need someone who will work hard and teach our girls how to play. Someone who would motivate the team to do the best because we have excellent players and returners we should have a successful program, were working on it.”

It isn’t so bad!
Oct 16th, 2007 by DORK023

I always though soccer was boring and I always wondered why people would go watch soccer games. Well I found out this Sunday at the Chivas U.S.A. v.s Colorado Rapids game. I went with all my family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and just some family friends to go watch the game and I was amazed at the what I saw. Everyone is so cheerful and win or lose they still cheer for their team. It is so energizing to see all these people pretty much yelling through out the whole game. I was surprised to find myself doing the same. CHIVAS.jpg

Soccer is such an exciting game and I think that those people who think soccer is boring should actually go watch one of these games live. It is so much better to be there in person than to watch it in T.V. I will definitely be going to more soccer games in the future. IT ISN’T SO BAD AFTER ALL!
