The New Senior-For-Sure-Fail list is a sheet that, when submitted on Tuesday, June 1, will keep any senior from graduating on stage. LAUSD will mail the students’ parents notifying them of the fact that they will not graduate.
This Sure-Fail List, as it is called, does not reflect the final grades because those grades are due on June 16. Teachers were notified today on May 25 to warn their students of this, and to begin gathering possible failing students.
Students all over the school will be conferencing with their to teachers concerning their grades and their possibility of not graduating. Some students are outraged at the fact that their only chance to make amends to their grades has been robbed from them.
Students, please speak with your teachers and make sure you have a say on your future. LAUSD will be spending money so that when it is sent home your parents will have to sign a paper the mailman will have and receive the letter saying if your graduating on stage or not.
Hopefully you all do well, and have fun at Roosevelt‘s Senior prom.

Fascist Nazi forces from the misnamed “National Socialist Movement” are coming to LA. These racists have been organizing rallies in Southern California to attack and harass immigrants. But each time, they have been driven away by huge counter-???protests.???
Nazi racism targets not only Latino immigrants, but also the Black community, Asians, Arabs, Native peoples, Jews, LGBT people, leftists and anyone who opposes their hate. Now, the Nazis are attempting to rally in downtown LA at City Hall. We must be there with thousands to say NO to racism!
The ANSWER Coalition is calling on all anti-racist people to stand united against the Nazis and drive them out of Los Angeles. Help us build this action. Together, we can stop racist hate! Down with Nazis/KKK!

Throughout the years the L.A river has been home to many graffiti artist but as of last year it has been reposed by the government and they have erased all the rich history of true L.A art. Definitely one of the saddest days ever.
We are in the thick of march madness, and I’m not talking NCAA Basketball. On the heels of the mass demonstration in Washington, DC last Sunday, and marches throughout California this week, Los Angelinos will be out in full force tomorrow.
Congress continues to place the immigration reform bill on the back burner. The last immigration reform bill was passed in 1986 under President Ronald Reagan’s administration.
It’s not right that we don’t focus on the immigration reform bill on the basis that it’s not “practical”. If I may recall, attempting to pass a health care bill wasn’t practical either, however, Congress has made it evident that they have priorities.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who met with Congress, asked for money to invest in public transportation. As opposed to demand an immigration reform bill for the people of his community, he doesn’t. It’s time that America stops playing politics and starts focusing on what’s right, as opposed to what’s popular.
With the above stated, we, as the youth must show our support. And ultimately, pressure Congress to pass a fair immigration reform bill in 2010. This Saturday, people will be marching to show support. It’s important that people attend! Tell your friends and families to go. SHOW SUPPORT!

American Me released in 1992 which depicts a fictionalized account of the founding and rise to power of the Mexican Mafia in the California prison system from the 1950s into the 1980s. The movie focuses on the life of a 13 year old Chicano boy name Santana and his friends Mundo and J.D. The actors in this film are Edward James Olmos as (Montoya Santana), William Forsythe as (J.D.), Pepe Serna as (Mundo), Daniel A. Haro as (Huero), Sal Lopez as (Pedro Santana), and Vira Montes as (Esperanza Santana).
Olmos stars as street-gang leader Santana, who during his 18 years in Folsom Prison rules over all the drug and murder activities behind bars. Santana is back in the streets for the first time since his teenage years. Upon his release, Santana goes back to his old neighborhood, intending to lead a peaceful, crime-free life. Santana then learns that life on the outside is as hard as it is behind bars. But the harsh reality of barrio life and his blood-stained past will not give Santana the chance to turn his back on his former way of life.
At around 4:04 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16 a 4.4 magnitude earthquake woke up many California residents. No one saw the earthquake coming, and if it wasn’t for the trembling and shaking walls, many people wouldn’t have felt a thing (and some didn’t).
The earthquake was centered approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, near the Whittier Narrows fault.
According to the Associated Press, “the quake hit not far from the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake, a magnitude 5.9 quake that killed eight people and caused more than $350 million in damage.”
While there were no injuries and no damage, experts say that there is a 5% chance that small earthquakes can trigger a bigger earthquake in the preceeding days.
Experts also say that earthquakes like today’s should remind people that California is long over due for a big earthquake from the San Andreas fault, and that they must keep food, water, and supplies on stock.
Read up, and get some tips on how to prepare for an earthquake!
