CNMT Weekly Update – 2/19/13

Dear CNMT Community,
On Tuesday the LAUSD school board voted to approve Phase 1 of the Common Core Technology Project Plan. This is a program proposed originally by the Superintendent to equip every student in LAUSD with a personal computing device.
Phase 1 includes the 13 schools of the Schools for the Future, along with an additional 34 schools that were part of the Office of Civil Rights agreement.

CNMT Weekly Update – 2/4/13
Dear CNMT community,
For the past few weeks I have been going over our progress to date this year with teachers, counselors and out-of-classroom staff in order to prepare for the CNMT midyear data review.
This has been a valuable experience, since I’ve had the opportunity to have some honest and informative discussions with a number of folks. Overall I would say that we are making progress and the current data look promising. I want to share a few highlights here.
CNMT students featured on NPR
CNMT seniors Rene Ayala and Oscar Rodriguez have been featured on Hear in the City, a local show on Pacifica’s KPFK. They worked with reporter Sara Harris to produce a story on bullying, that has been selected to be part of a national one-hour radio series: Generation PRX’s Bullied Project. Sara Harris also shares an interview with bullying prevention and intervention specialist Holly Priebe-Díaz from the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Then on Tuesday the School Site Council is meeting in R212 at 3:15 to approve the budget and Single Plan for Student Achievement. Wednesday I have my appointment with Local District 5 to review the budget. Wish me luck! Continue reading
